Live and Local is a monthly gig night showcasing and celebrating North East artists and bands of all ages.
Corduroy Boy: Corduroy Boy are a female-fronted DIY 5-piece, taking inspiration from high energy psych rock, groove focused alternative rock, and the dynamic textures found in modern post-punk. We came together with a shared interest in alternative music. Our songwriting reflects this, taking advantage of exotic keys, odd time signatures and layered textures. We strive to find the balance between the satisfying familiar and the unexpected.
James Witham: At just 19 years old, James Witham is carving out a distinctive voice in the UK’s new wave of indie talent. Hailing from Teesside, James blends the raw honesty of classic singer-songwriter storytelling with the expansive textures of modern alternative music — creating a sound that feels both deeply personal and bound for big stages. James first introduced himself with his debut single “Walls”, a heartfelt and soaring track that captures his knack for emotional lyricism and anthemic choruses. The song resonated with listeners for its mix of youthful vulnerability and confidence beyond his years — setting the tone for what’s to come. Now, James is stepping into a new era. His latest material pushes further into his creative vision — a blend of anthemic hits and more psychedelic, spacey sounds that reflect his curiosity and evolving artistry. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Sam Fender, The War on Drugs, and early Radiohead, his music explores themes of growth, identity, and the restless energy of youth, all filtered through shimmering guitars, cinematic synths, and powerful vocal performances.
With his heartfelt songwriting and magnetic stage presence, James Witham is quickly emerging as one of the North East’s most exciting young artists — one whose sound is both grounded in Teesside grit and changeling modern direction.
Sasha Sky: Singer-songwriter from Darlington. With a strong passion for music, singing and songwriting but didn’t take the leap to pursue it for a long time due to extreme fear. Beginning her journey in January 2021, as an independent artist in amongst the UK lockdown. Sasha has released 6 singles (with a 7th on the way on February 13th!)
