BBC Introducing x IVW presents | Luke Royalty, ZELA, Sarah Johnsone | Sat 14th May 2022

BBC Introducing & IVW presents…

Luke Royalty

Influenced by the likes of Mike Skinner, Mac Miller and Frank Ocean, Luke got drawn into the culture of turning his words to music. Luke’s first single ‘I Could Get Used To This’ was supported by Jack Saunders on Radio 1, his second single ‘I Do’ was made BBC Introducing track of the week & ‘Stay Gold’ was featured as part of this years BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

ZELA

Brat-Pop duo ZELA, siblings from the North-East of England, have created a dark and imaginative brand of attitude-laced alt-electronic pop. Think Charli XCX meets Wolf Alice, with a hint of Doja Cat and Yungblud. Dirty, pulsing basslines meet distortion-soaked synths and driving, electronic drum beats, and the pair have become known for their signature use of sampling front-woman Liv Griff’s vocal and using it as an instrument in itself.

Sarah Johnsone

Sarah inherited her music taste from her dad and grew up listening to an eclectic range of genres, including rock, blues, jazz, R&B and reggae. In particular, she was influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse and Paolo Nutini. From this cultured upbringing Sarah has gone on to develop her own unique sound and introspective songwriting style.
