SUMMARY:Millie Manders & The Shut Up: Back to the Futour
DESCRIPTION:Cross-genre punk rock is increasingly hard to ignore. With main stage appearances at notable festivals such as Slam Dunk\, Beautiful Days and Rebellion\, and extensive support from the likes of BBC Introducing and Radio X\, the last two years have propelled MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUTUP into the public conscience and music industry at large.   \nFronted by Millie Manders\, whose staggering vocal dexterity\, backed by grinding guitars and irresistible horns has huge pop appeal. The lyrics deliberate on themes of loss\, betrayal\, anger\, anxiety\, heartbreak and bitterness\, environmental catastrophe and political unrest. With a conscience ensuring zero plastic wrapping on any merchandise\, and that limited edition artwork and clothing are sold to help raise money for charities\, Millie Manders and The Shutup are striving to make a difference whilst keeping us uplifted and brilliantly entertained.  \nThe live shows are renowned for their power and contagious energy and 2026 sees MMATSU looking to release their highly anticipated third album. \n“MMATSU bring fierce and addictive ska punk with emotive and urgent lyrics; tipped as the UK’s answer to The Interrupters  with high octane live shows and attitude backed with morality …”   \nVIVE LE ROCK  \nWith support from Death Trails: \n\n\n\n\nNorthern loud mouths Death Trails are a hard-hitting three piece with duelling female and male vocals. They combine punk\, grunge\, ska and hardcore to create their unique\, raw sound and rollercoaster of a set. \nLyrically no stone is left unturned\, with topics ranging from bongs and billionaires to riots and religion\, delivered with sweet harmonies and hell- raising screams. \nThe tight trio have become known for their genre-defying and sweat- inducing live shows\, packed with furious energy and visceral passion. Though the subject matter is often dark\, Death Trails brings joy\, unity and a damn good time for all. \nNo hate\, no fear\, everybody is welcome here. See you in the pit. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets £17.50+ booking fee\nTICKETS NOW AVAILABLE FROM UNIVERSE ONLY:\n\n Get Tickets\n\n\nDoors From: 7:30pm\nShow Starts: 8:00PM (Approximately)\n16+ (Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult)\nStanding Event\nBefore attending please read our Covid-19 Disclaimer and check out our Venue Info Page

SUMMARY:Blackout the Arcade | The Callows | Rivia
DESCRIPTION:Blackout the Arcade signifies the uprising of a new revelation within the Indie and Alternative music scene in the North-East of England; introducing a fusion of “no-nonsense” reverberant rock with psychedelic undertones\, in a style not too dissimilar from the likes of The Killers and Catfish and the Bottlemen. \nIn anticipation of their run of 5 new single releases\, Blackout the Arcade “Darlington’s hottest new indie outfit” hope to match the success of their previous “catchy indie bangers” that are “laden with towering guitar hooks and a driving vocal performance\, giving you a thrilling treat to wrap your ears around” as well as nostalgic live performances at independent venues in the North-East such as THINK TANK?\, The Georgian Theatre and KU Bar \nThe North-East is starting to get a reputation for “producing some amazing guitar-based acts\, with Blackout the Arcade is the latest alumni to join the roster”. Radiating an infectious and ignitable energy which is impossible to disregard\, the group now have their ambitions aimed on smashing through the formidable barricades of 2024. \nThe Callows:  Up and coming band from Darlington\, writing original songs and recording covers with a twist\, the band have bagged themselves radio play and bookings for many gigs in the future. The Callows consist of Max Ferguson on guitar and vocals\, Jimmy Smith on guitar – Son of the Weekend Sun’s Bassist Phil Smith\, Hubert Lewandowski on bass and Ollie Vitty on drums! \nRivia: Four-piece from Liverpool on a mission to drag pop punk music back into the spotlight—kicking\, screaming\, and sounding bloody good doing it. \nWith a sound that fuses the swagger of ‘80s Classic Rock and the punch of 2000s Alt-Rock and Pop-Punk\, they’ve carved out something that hits hard and sticks in your head. They’ve shared stages with big names like The Wombats\, Mallory Knox\, Bloxx\, and The Sheratons\, and played to thousands at festivals like Isle of Wight\, Y Not\, and Endorset. \nNo matter the size of the stage\, RIVIA bring it—every time. Expect massive hooks\, big energy\, and a live show that leaves you grinning and a bit deaf. Rock’s not dead. It’s just been waiting for these four to show up. \n\n\nTickets £10.00 \nDoors From: 7:00PM\nShow Starts: 8:00PM (Approximately)\n18+\nStanding Event\nBefore attending please read our Covid-19 Disclaimer and check out our Venue Info Page\n\n\nHow To Buy Your Ticket \n\nBuy Online\, using the box below\nVisit The Forum Reception \nCall us on: 01325 363135\nPlease note our reception and phone line are not always manned especially at busy events\, please see our Opening Hours & Venue Info for more info.\n\nA non-refundable 50p booking fee is added to each ticket when buying online. SUMMARY:Smoove & Turrell
DESCRIPTION:The story of Smoove & Turrell began in the post millennium North East of England with a group of working class lads and a shared passion for soul.\nTheir first track was the now classic ‘I Can’t Give You Up’ recorded at Mike Porter’s house as his Hammond Organ was immovably wedged in his utility room! If you listen closely to the (now extremely expensive) original 7 inch recording released on the German label Club Tikka you can still hear Mike’s mum retrieving a pack of peas from the freezer… The track was so popular in the underground Mod and Northern soul scene all initial 500 pressings of the record sold out\, resulting in online bidding wars\, with the record going for as much as £160. \nIt was in fellow soul head Craig Charles that they found their first radio champion as he supported them heavily on ‘The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show’ which was a kick-starter for their assault on national radio eventually landing Radio 2 record of the week twice and a playlist on 6 Music. \nBy the time their second album – Eccentric Audio was released the band had already been touring far and wide building up a loyal fan base helped by continued support from radio which culminated in two playlists and a New Year’s Eve live session on Radio 2. With two critically acclaimed albums under their belts and word starting to spread across the pond to America – S&T tracks were used on TV shows\, feature films and an ABC network primetime ad campaign\, as well as in video games such as The Crew. \n2019 then saw the band celebrating 10 years in the business with the release of “Solid Brass – 10 Years of Northern Funk” a retrospective of the biggest tracks from their blistering live shows with the added bonus of two new tracks – “I’m A Man” and “Give It Back”. A sell out Solid Brass tour saw them delivering a set of strictly the hits to rapturous reception. The band returned in 2020 with “Stratos Bleu” their 6th studio album and one that continued to pair Turrell’s conscious lyricism with Smoove’s impeccable production. Keyboard player Mike Porter’s collection of analogue synths comes to the fore on the new album with a nod to the heady days of early 90’s clubbing which may be a surprise to some but in the context of this band as dance floor favourites makes perfect sense. \n‘Red Ellen’ was released in 2023\, not quite as electronic an odyssey as Stratos Bleu\, but still firmly centred on the dance floor and with an overwhelmingly optimistic message of love and compassion\, the album is tempered as always with the gritty reality of working class life in the North East of England. \nWith support from DJ’s\, Tosh & Dave.  \n\n\nTickets £22.00 adv\nDoors From: 7.30PM\nShow Starts: 8.00PM (Approximately)\n16+ (Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult)\nStanding Event\nBefore attending please read our Covid-19 Disclaimer and check out our Venue Info Page\n\n\nHow To Buy Your Ticket \n\nBuy Online\, using the box below\nVisit The Forum Reception \nCall us on: 01325 363135\nPlease note our reception and phone line are not always manned especially at busy events\, please see our Opening Hours & Venue Info for more info.\n\nA non-refundable 50p booking fee is added to each ticket when buying online. SUMMARY:Pint of Science: Unseen Worlds: Microbes and Medicine
DESCRIPTION:The world’s largest festival of public science\, which offers members of the public an inside look at cutting-edge research\, is returning to Darlington for the third year. \nThe Pint of Science festival brings thousands of scientists and their research out of specialist labs and into their local pubs\, cafés and community halls to share their scientific discoveries with members of the public in an informal and relaxed setting. \n  \nScience of Superbugs – Dr Bruno Silvester-Lopes\, Senior Lecturer in Microbiology \nAs the world evolves\, there is an emerging threat from infectious diseases and the dangerous role bacteria play. This talk aims to answer the following questions: What are pink microbes? Where do infectious diseases emerge? How do they spread? What is antimicrobial resistance\, and how can we protect ourselves? And tries to highlight the new solutions which are emerging. \nWhen antibiotics fail: Superbugs and the fight for sight – Dr Faith Ukachukwu\, Senior Lecturer in Clinical Optometry \nAntibiotics have transformed modern medicine\, but what happens when they stop working? Around the world\, bacteria are becoming resistant to antibiotics\, creating dangerous “superbugs” that are harder to treat. Some are now resistant to both single and combination antibiotics\, while very few new drugs are being developed. \nThis growing problem could make even common eye infections more serious and put sight at risk. This talk explores why antimicrobial resistance matters\, how bacteria outsmart current treatments\, and how natural product therapies could offer affordable\, safer\, and effective alternatives to help protect vision in the future. \nWhy fungi matter more than you think – Dr Takanori Furukawa\, Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fellow \nDo you like fungi? Perhaps it’s because they are behind some of humanity’s great inventions\, such as beer\, wine\, bread\, and antibiotics. Or maybe you dislike fungi because you simply don’t enjoy the taste or texture of mushrooms\, or because you keep encountering black mould thriving in your bathroom. Either way\, fungi have a tremendous impact on our lives both in GOOD and BAD ways. This talk will introduce the Funtastic microworld of fungi and explore why they matter more than you think in global public health. \n\n\nTickets £5.00 available here\nDoors From: 6:30PM\nEvent Starts: 7:00PM (Approximately)\n14+ (Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult)\nSeated Event \nBefore attending please read our Covid-19 Disclaimer and check out our Venue Info Page\n\n

SUMMARY:Andrew Johnson (Full band) + Anna Karila & Izzy Neish
DESCRIPTION:Stockton based music artist Andrew Johnson has put together his first ever full band shows of original solo songs.  \nHardly a slacker in the output department he has written\, recorded and released over 20 albums under his own name since 2003 (40+ if you include other guises). \nDrawing on a wide range of influences Andrew will be focussing\, at these shows at least\, on the “greatest hits that never were” plus big tunes from last year’s acclaimed Exercise In Style album and a little taste of what’s next too. \n“I’ve amassed a killer set of songs along the way and thought it was time to give them an airing in their fullest glory. I’m writing my best stuff right now too so it’s a chance to present that with a big sound” \nHaving carved out a solid reputation as an energetic\, soulful and captivating frontman in The Southmartins the crowd can expect more of the same here too. For fans of The Beatles\, Elliot Smith\, Squeeze and  other melodic indie-rock these are unmissable shows and\, who knows\, perhaps the only chance to hear these songs at full force. \n\n\nTickets £7.00 adv// £10.00 otd  \nDoors From: 6:30PM\nShow Starts: 7:00PM (Approximately)\nUnder 16’s must be accompanied by an adult\nUnreserved Seating\nBefore attending please read our Covid-19 Disclaimer and check out our Venue Info Page\n\n\nHow To Buy Your Ticket\n\nBuy Online\, using the box below\nVisit The Forum Reception \nCall us on: 01325 363135\nPlease note our reception and phone line are not always manned especially at busy events\, please see our Opening Hours & Venue Info for more info.\n\nA non-refundable 50p booking fee is added to each ticket when buying online. SUMMARY:RnB: Jon Amor Trio
DESCRIPTION:Jon Amor is the kind of artist who thrives on live music\, he first appeared in 1999 as the guitarist of The Hoax\, immediately leaving his calling card. Both sides wanted more\, and over the years he returned with various line-ups. Now he performs as a trio with Jerry Soffe on bass and Tom Gilkes on drums. \nThe towering Brit is hard to pin down musically. He is a distinctive songwriter who aims to surprise with his music\, whether rock\, pop\, funk\, or blues. With his current band\, he returns to his blues-rock roots. Sometimes it’s raw and powerful\, other times brooding and menacing\, or even danceable and funky. But there is always room for improvisation and his signature solos\, making every performance from this power trio a unique experience. \n\n\nTickets £15\nDoors From: 7.30PM\nShow Starts: 8.30PM (Approximately)\n16+ (Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult)\nUnreserved Seated Event\nBefore attending please read our Covid-19 Disclaimer and check out our Venue Info Page\n\n\nHow To Buy Your Ticket \n\nBuy Online\, using the box below\nVisit The Forum Reception \nCall us on: 01325 363135\nPlease note our reception and phone line are not always manned especially at busy events\, please see our Opening Hours & Venue Info for more info.\n\nA non-refundable 50p booking fee is added to each ticket when buying online\nOn the door ticket sales are subject to availability and not guaranteed
