DESCRIPTION:Wellbeing for the mind through music\nwith Hayley McKay\n\nJoin us for our free monthly sessions. Open to people of all ages and musical abilities\, Music Mind is a new incentive which sets out to improve mental health and wellbeing through singing\, song-writing and music production. \nThe sessions were created by Hayley McKay\, a leading vocal coach\, music tutor and professional singer-songwriter. She has worked extensively in supporting people throughout the UK and in local communities. \nShe said: “It’s quite incredible how engaging in music making can really lift your spirits. I have worked with\npeople of all ages and abilities\, and I have witnessed first-hand how much joy and the positive benefits it\nbrings to all.” \nThe monthly\, informal sessions are free to attend\, and aim to be informal\, relaxing\, fun and\ninteractive\, with the opportunity to make new friends\, write songs and find your inner voice with talents you never knew you had. \n\nSocialise and make new friends\nGroup singing opportunities\nMusical instruments\nSupport for Song writing\nMusical Recording opportunities\nPerformance opportunities for family and friends\n\n\nHayley McKay is an international award-winning singer-songwriter with appearances on national TV and radio.\nShe has supported artists including Tom Jones\, Scouting for Girls and Martha Reeves\, and has performed at many festivals and venues. \nEmail: hayleymckaymusic@gmail.com \n  \n\nWellbeing For The Mind Through Music has been funded by the National Lottery Community Fund

DESCRIPTION:Connected Communities: Stories and Cultural Practices in Darlington \n15–21 June 2026 \nAs part of  REFUGEE WEEK in Darlington we invite you to a week of exhibitions\, events\, and film screenings celebrating the stories\, creativity\, and cultures that shape Darlington today. Bringing together work created by local residents – including migrants and long-term communities – the programme explores themes of home\, belonging\, and shared experience through art\, storytelling\, and film. \nEveryone is welcome – come along\, explore\, and connect. \n Connected Communities is led by the Institute for Collective Place Leadership at Teesside University in collaboration with Creative Darlington\, Centre for Local Studies\, Hopetown Darlington\, The Forum Music Studios\, and Darlington Assistance for Refugees\, and is supported by the AHRC Impact Acceleration Account and Creative Darlington. In partnership with the Stockton and Darlington Railway 26 miles Heritage Project and funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund. \nFind out More\n\nHome Away From Home  \nThe fictional documentary film produced by artist Azadeh Fatehrad explores the shared human experiences of migration\, homemaking\, and integration. This 40-minute film reflects on a series of participatory aesthetic workshops conducted in Sweden\, the UK\, and Denmark from 2020 to 2024\, in partnership with NGOs and facilitators.
