‘Friends Of The Forum’ is a group that has developed from the fantastic campaign work undertaken by the people of Darlington and the surrounding areas to protect the future of the Forum Music Centre. The team consists of some of the leading individuals from the various ‘Save The Forum Groups’ who are also well known to the management team at The Forum.

Our aim is to raise awareness and funds to secure the future of our Forum and the transfer of the business to a Community Interest Company called “Humantics”. Thereafter the group will look to assist in the future development and running of the centre – acting similarly to the many school Parent/Teacher Associations we see.

Currently the Forum is under threat of closure due to issues securing a loan that needs to be transferred from The Forum to Humantics CIC. The Humantics team however continues to work with the council and various organisations to secure these funds in order to safeguard the future of the centre.

Due to delays in loan transferal, and hence a delayed business plan, there now exists a financing gap in the region of £30,000. This is the figure that The Friends Of The Forum are targeting to raise initially

Funds that are raised by The Friends Of The Forum would be solely available for the maintenance and development of The Forum Music Centre, and no other division of Humantics CIC. Areas that would not be covered by Friends Of The Forum funds are Security – It is hoped this can be raised in conjunction with local businesses, arrears of rent / rates/etc, and costs incurred transferring The Forum Music Centre to Humantics CIC

We are creating a mailing list specifically to advise of FOTF activities but we are also seeking new group members who would be willing to occasionally lend their time to assisting our future activities. Becoming a member would also give you voting rights for Friends Of The Forum AGM’s and EGM’s.
